LaRonda fondly recalls holiday snow and signs a famous Christmas song in ASL.
Transcript:
Hello. A long time ago, I used to live in Washington state. Washington is cold and full of rain. A true wet-weather place. But, it also has all four seasons - winter, spring, summer and fall. I liked that. Here in California, we don’t have much snow where I live. Just a tiny bit. You have to drive a long way to the mountains just to see snow. We have lots of sunshine, which I also like. Yet, at this time of year, I’m really missing snow. Dang!
I was just thinking about one of my favorite songs from days gone by: I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas. I’ve always wanted to try to perform that song in ASL. Now understand, I am Deaf. There is no music attached with this vlog. None. So, if you know that song, you’ll have to come up with the tune in your head. I’m going to give it a try. Ready?
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
where the tree tops glisten
and children listen
to hear (spot) sleigh bells (sleighs) in the snowI’m dreaming of a white Christmas
with every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry
and bright
and may all your Christmas’s
be white
Bye (ILY wave)
Happy holidays.

I sang it with you, it was beautiful. I saw all those northern white Cedar trees of Washington state and the snow stacked on the boughs. You brought back some great memories of when we lived there. love Mom
