Who is doing the fighting? All I see is people standing up for ASL, which is completely proper. Then other people attack the ASL supporters and the attackers accuse the ASL supporters of being extremists. Who are the real extremists? It’s not the ASL supporters.
It’s the same old story for many years.

This is my first time commenting in your blog. I just HAD TO comment now after watching your vlog 3 times because I can truly feel your love & spirit coming to me through the monitor. Sounds weird, I know, but it’s the truth. I hope everyone felt the same way as I did and we can all work on accepting each other, flaws and all. I don’t always do that so it’s a work in progress.

Nice.
That is why I am spending less and less time on DeafRead… I don’t really like “measuring the person’s character by yardstick” activity… we always will fail to meet anyone’s expectations.
What I know is better not to have expectations or you’d be disappointed.
We are just human beings… having nothing to do with being deaf or being hearing. That is why I don’t place a lot of value on ASL… I’d rather get to know people based on who they are, not based on their language.

Nice sentiment. Wonderful goal. But perhaps a more attainable goal (on the way towards love) is to strive for “respect.”
I may absolutely disagree with your idea, but I can still respect you as human being, respect your passion enthusiasm for your idea, etc. But in the end, I still totally disagree with you about that idea. Fine.
The problem, of course, is when we attack the person instead of the idea. This has been mentioned before, but it’s worth repeating. When we attack an idea, we can have a constructive, though still very passionate discussion or debate. But when we attack the person, all matter of other baggage comes into the discussion that ends up hurting feelings, alienating people, and not leading to anything constructive.
Of course we have to admit that some people don’t want anything constructive to come from discussions; they just want to attack the person. But for most of us, we are just passionate about our ideas and want to share them and persuade others to adopt them. When those people focus on criticizing a person’s ideas and not the person, we can all participate in a constructive discussion or debate.
So let’s show respect for each other, and focus our discussions on ideas (not people).

Is it spreading some heartshine or is it the ever so bright sunshine that you spontaneously like to sprinkle the warm sun rays on our skin hungry for Vitamin D, for better health?

We not only live a little longer with some sunshine, but if we love and are loved, we certainly will live longer. When we hate, or stress ourselves out with emotions that actually hurt the heart or put a damper on the heartshine, our light goes out sooner. If we want our candle to keep on burning, do it with love.
Politics will always be politics, as Brent accurately pointed out, “attack the ideas, not the people.”

Full of vibrations in your poem! Every word you utter is true and beautiful. I am an Apollian, worshipping the sun eveerytime it is shining. Basking in the sun brings you wisdom and beauty and love. One can see the beauty about the sun through children playing outdoors happily. It is the sun that bring us lovely flowers, trees, grasses. Phenomenal rainbow! A beautiful sight! Finally, one can see exciting hands that fly in the air — a la Shakespeare.
