Hi! I’m back and I have a cool story to share with you! I’m looking back to the Spring of 1984 when I was at Gallaudet…. I was a “Special Visiting Student.” Special Visiting Students was the title given to other hearing students out in the world who wanted to learn about Deaf culture, ASL, and different things about deaf people. They gathered at Gallaudet for 1 semester to learn.
Back then, I was deaf, but still, a newly deafened person. I was still awkward in my deaf identity and trying to find my way. My attitude then was still primarily “hearing” in many ways. Anyway, I tended to socialize with the other 4 or 5 hearing girls in the Special Visiting Student program then.
Well, one day, in one of my hearing friend’s dorm, I’ll call her Kelly (not her real name), several of us girls gathered together to hang out. Kelly had some bananas and was eating one. I said to her, “Hey, I want one. Give me a banana.” Kelly said, “Fine,” and she threw one at me. Our other girlfriend said, “Hey, I want a banana too!” So Kelly gave her one as well.
Then the 3 of us started slowly and gingerly peeling our bananas and soon, we were licking them and getting very creative with what we were doing with our mouths! We were just being silly with our bananas! (You need to understand, we were only 20 years old then!)
Anyway, my friend Kelly started to become flirtatious. She announced to us, “You know what? I’ve NEVER KISSED A DEAF BOY, EVER!” I’m so curious! Compared with a hearing boy, does a deaf boy kiss better, or does he make-out differently than a hearing boy would? I’m CURIOUS!”
We all cracked up laughing and said we didn’t know! In fact, none of us had ever kissed a deaf boy either! At the time, I was dating my hearing boyfriend (who later became my husband) and I had never kissed a deaf boy yet. Anyway, we all agreed we were equally curious how they might be different. Would a deaf boy kiss better or make-out differently than a hearing boy would?
It was then that Kelly decided to make a goal. Before the semester would end, she announced that she would date, kiss and make-out with a Deaf boy and then let us know how he compared with hearing boys. Naturally, we all applauded her and cheered her on. (Again, remember, we were just a bunch of girls in our 20’s back then!) We were excited and stoked to learn about the result! Then 4 of us agreed we would try to set up our friend Kelly with a Deaf guy.
Well one night it happened that there was a “Deafnasty” party in the dorms and we all went. You remember the old movie series “Dynasty,” right? It was very popular back then. Well these were cocktail parties where people would dress up as different characters from Dynasty and gather together, but they called it, “Deafnasty” parties.
So, we all went to this party and started to schmooze. Then we noticed that Kelly had her eye on one particular boy. I’ll call that boy David. Then Kelly let us know, “That’s the boy I’m going to kiss tonight!”
We all started to giggle and laugh, trying to hush our hysterics and play it cool. “Really? You will?” We were so excited! So we started to find ways to get Kelly and David together, playing match-makers.
I went up to David and said, “You should ask Kelly out on a date. She’s beautiful, a cute girl who might like you, and she’s a big flirt!” And David did! He went over and started up a conversation with our friend Kelly. The rest of us girls innocently backed away and let them be.
Sure enough, before the night was over, Kelly and David left the party together! My girlfriends and I cracked up laughing, knowing what was bound to happen next!
The next day, we were beside ourselves with excitement! After class, we all went to find Kelly in her dorm room. We knocked and rang the door light, but no answer! “Dang!” We agreed to wait until maybe dinner time in the cafeteria and then we would bombard her with questions to find out what happened!
We all showed up at dinner time, but Kelly wasn’t there. We were very curious because we also noticed that David was missing too. We had to admit we were a bit concerned and hoped everything had gone okay with them the night before. We had thoughts like, “Maybe Kelly was raped or something really bad happened to her!” We weren’t sure. As the afternoon and evening went on, we still couldn’t find Kelly.
The next day, our concern grew greater! Where’s Kelly? We knocked at her dorm room, but still no answer. We started to panic and become paranoid and worry about what happened to her!
Well later, I think around lunch time that next day, we all assembled in the cafeteria and there we found Kelly, and she was sitting with David! As we looked upon this scene, we all found it rather interesting. We had thought something awful might have happened, but there they were, the 2 of them, together. “Interesting,” we remarked to each other. It was later that we all learned that Kelly was actually falling in love with this Deaf guy, David! They actually looked as if they were becoming a couple, progressing and moving right along! Whoa!
Finally, we were all able to get together again with Kelly later and ask her, “WHAT HAPPENED with that night?! We’re all dying of curiosity! What’s the result of your experiment? Do Deaf boys kiss better than hearing boys or make-out differently, or what?!!”
Then Kelly said, “To be honest, it’s really none of your business.”
“WHAT?!! None of our business?! You made that our business!! We’re all so curious! What are you talking about? How can you brag about something like that and then not tell us? What’s up with that?!”That’s when Kelly admitted that she was starting to fall in love with David. “What it means,” she said, “is that I’d prefer to keep what happened between us, private. I really don’t want to share that with all of you.”
I sat there dumbfounded. I was shocked and speechless. And yet, I could understand and even respect what she was saying. But at the same time, SHOOT! Ha! It was a bummer and not fair! Crud. But I did respect where she was coming from and left that story to be her own business.
However, I’m still CURIOUS! What was the result? Do Deaf boys kiss better than hearing boys? Do deaf boys make-out differently than hearing boys?
I’m curious. What’s your opinion?
Bye (ILY-wave)

…and I thought I was bad! *laugh* Other than that, no comments :-D!

OBVIOUSLY there was nothing wrong with David’s technique!
Hee, hee.
My opinion? Well, men are men and they are all operators! The whole thing about kissing, is how you feel about the guy, not his technique. “Chemistry” and all that jazz.

I don’t want to brag… but from my experience… I went to mainstreaming school.. I was only deaf student at school.. some girls did mention that ..in their word “I am more creative than their ex’s”. So I really don’t know if its true… but I am curious about men out there what is their opinion about hearing girls and deaf girls.
What you just said about David… it look like deaf won… because if he was terrible kisser then Kelly wont be with him in first place? I am sure everyone want to be with someone who can kiss… they cant really enjoyed they romantic life if there is no chemical through kissing.

I can safely say that there’s no difference! There are some great hearing kissers and some great deaf kissers and then there’s a bunch of guys who need to work on their kissing!

One best kisser I ever had was at Gally….He’s also deaf and from New York. I still miss his kiss. Well, I am married but he’s not that good. But still love him.
Thank you for sharing your story! I thought it was so funny! I had good times at Gally.

Wow…was anticipating an answer but you are such a tease!! Why not talk about your experience instead of a friend? Also, I am captivated by the picture you chose for this title.
Whomever that lady is certainly looks good, and the photographer (Pedrosimoes7) did a great job capturing the pose. Maybe if you put up a sexy pic of a guy’s figure, you’d get more female comments??

Wow, what a story teller you are! Alas, you dropped us all off at the edge of the cliff and just left us there!
Personally, my experience is limited (alas!) but I think Deaf guys kiss better. Why? They watch movies! Being visual people, they attend to all the details, moves, and learn from the hot actors of the silver screen and put it to good use! Hearing guys would only pay attention to the sound–music, moans, even the corny dialogue.
Does my theory make sense?

Say, how about turning the table around? Do deaf girls kiss better than hearing girls?
From my experience, it is definitely the latter. Your opinions?
Left by Eyefang on September 25th, 2007
I think hearing guys and deaf guys are both good kisser .. I dont see any differently in them. It depends on their experiences in kissing with ladies. I noticed teenager boys are more notvice kisser than young men … I had experiences dating with deaf and hearing guys …For a marriage life, I rather to be with Deaf man for communication freedom ..I ended up fell in love and married to a deaf man that i know from high school …

Lol .. funny You and your friends gulped! Kelly was in love with David! Are they still together or drifted apart?
Left by Diane on September 25th, 2007
Hi Everyone. For those of you who asked if Kelly and David stayed together or drifted apart, I only know that they were together for a while, but I don’t think they continued on. I lost touch with Kelly after I left Gallaudet. I wonder if she ever reconnected with David…. They were together for a little while.

I dated a hearing guy and he wanted to me to moan for him and I did not know how . I did not know that hearing people moan. I tried to moan but I felt I was not myself. I also do not know if I moan correctly? I rather be myself and be with a deaf guy!

Oh boy - why did you have to tell us if Kelly never told you what she thought. But I’ll take it because it is interesting to see what others have to say.
What about this? Did Kelly kiss Deaf man better than hearing man?
FYI - the link did not work.

You gave wonderful ASL story!!!
I almost turned off your vlog because of 6:48 minutes long but after I watched the first two minutes I glued to it all the way. It wasn’t only good story but your ASL is clear and beautiful (amazing you said you became deaf at age 17????).
I look forward to watching more of your upcoming vlogs.
