Charm and subtle. Simple poem signing express very rhetoric.

“A new word is like a fresh seed sewn on the ground of the discussion.”

Nice! Simple but say a lot.

Like Iammine said, WOW is the word I first thought after you were done.

I think I am gotta send this to my family and friends who are hearing. I hope if it is okay with you. Eh …

I hope DSP will publish your books and many more one day.

    Diane and others,

You are more than welcome and even encouraged to share this video with people in the hearing community. That’s what it’s for as part of the Equal Communication Access campaign. I hope that my poem encourages others to enter the ECA contest. Since I’m one of the judges, this will not be an entry. It’s just an example of the kind of creativity that’s out there. The door is wide open. I hope to see more entries and support. :)

Awesome! I never thought of that!

    Beautiful video and powerful poem!

Hello, LaRonda since I’m hard of hearing/deaf and learning ASL, I will view your video as often as I can to recognize the signs and to memorize your poem. It says many of the same things that I do when I speak out regarding lack of access for the hard of hearing and deaf, but I really like the way you expressed it (via sign and written).

Thank you for speaking up for us and for sharing this with us……..

    Hello LaRonda,

First, I want to thank you for providing this great video in both ASL and captions.

Now, I would like to ask you: would it be OK with you if I shared this Equal Communication Access video and poem with others?

I wanted to email your video and poem to some people who really need to see this (to educate and inform them that it is not an isolated issue with only one hoh/deaf person; unfortunately, it is a problem for many people with all degrees of hearing loss). There are others who will enjoy watching the video with the ASL or reading the captions; they will enjoy reading your poem too. In fact, I bet my ASL classmates would like viewing this video while learning more about the deaf experience.

LaRonda, I believe that this can be used as an educational tool for many people who do not understand what the hoh and deaf people experience. As a poet myself, I use my poetry to inform and educate as well.

If I share your video and poem with others (with your permission), I will make it clear that this is your video and your poem by giving your name and the link to this blog. Please let me know what you want or don’t want me to do.

    Have a blessed day!

    Learning ASL,

You are more than welcome to share this video with others. In fact, I encourage it! That’s what it was made for - to share. Thank you for giving me credit for making it. Enjoy!
