This is a special note before I begin the continuation of my storyblog about My Journey into Deafhood.
First, HEARTFELT THANKS to those of you who have encouraged me to come back and continue my tale. I appreciate the support and will go forward with the posts as originally planned. My story might not interest everyone. That’s okay. If people are not interested, they can skip over it. I do not think that my frequent appearance of my summer storyblog will “hurt DeafRead” as once commenter suggested.
I set a short-term course (just 1 summer month) to post my storyblog at DeafRead, and made a promise to the community to complete it by Aug. 8th. I developed a readership and people have been following it along. It isn’t fair for me to leave them hanging because of a commenter’s remark that left me vulnerable. (See my comment on my previous vlog post.)
My sincere apologies to all of you for the confusion. I hope I did not insult the intelligence of readers at DeafRead. That was not my intention. Certainly we are all able to handle reading the plethora of diverse blogs and vlogs and issues covered out there in the deaf community. I thank DeafRead for showing faith in the value of my storyblog. I believe it brings a unique perspective and experience of someone on their journey of Deafhood, which is why I thought it was worthy of being posted on DeafRead in the first place.
I just let this commenter rock my boat! (we all have vulnerable moments….)
I am humbled by the pleas to keep going with my storyblog, and I will not let you down! It has been important for me to share what life was like before I became deaf so that people understand the significant transition that occurred when I became deaf — a transformation I not only understand and accept, but also celebrate! Keep on reading!

Hi LaRonda!
Ohh, that is wonderful news! I cannot believe that commentor had guts to say such things like that. I have had a few nasty emails sent to me when I first joined vlog world last March just because of my captions.
Did I give up? Nope but I sure almost did, though. That same goes with Hell’s Kitchen when I did first 3 video recaps assuming that no one like it but turned out I had a lot of supports after I told people in chatroom that I won’t do it again. So I ended up coming back and am still doing HK recaps since then.
That what made me realize how many loyal readers I have just like you have, and yes I’m one of your loyal readers, I’m sure I mentioned that before.
I look forward to more stories! Happy day!
Hugs
-SG

I haven’t been reading your storyblog, but this one caught my attention. I’m glad you decided to continue. You should not allow *anyone* stop you from blogging or vlogging. My response to that person would be, “Don’t let the door hit you on your way out!”
Keep it up, LaRonda.

Thank you for your support. I have heard from many well respected bloggers and vloggers who said they too have gone through this kind of vulnerability in the past. I guess I’ve been “christened” now. It’s been a learning experience for sure!

Hi LaRonda,
It’s great to know you will be back - I can’t wait until your storyblog resumes! I’m very curious to learn when/how you realized you had become Deaf during your illness and how you and your family reacted.
I’m glad you aren’t letting one nasty comment stop you, even more so when it was an anonymous comment and only deserved to be responded to with a tap of the “delete” key. You obviously have many loyal fans, judging by the recent outcry, so don’t let one person make you second guess yourself.

Yeah, good going! We can handle reading many blogs/vlogs that Deafread brings on a daily basis.
I wonder who the commentor was, perhaps he was worrying for nothing or whatever. Next time if it happens, you can just tak it with the grain of salt.
Now lets go back to your story. Thanks!

Mike, you’re so funny! I felt a little nuts there for a while. I’ll get back in my room now.
Thanks everyone for the hand waves, the claps, the stomping feet, the grins, the praise and even the lighters waving in the air (that was a cool image!). My heart is full! You guys are great!!!
